Totally out of the ordinary...but

OK so it's almost Thanksgiving but that is not what I am thinking about today. Not that Thanksgiving isn't important...of course it is....especially to those who do not have loved ones with them this year. But today as I was watching students work on their practice TAKS test...I was thinking about China....yes China...I know it is a communist country but....it is pretty fascinating...don't you think? A lot of people don't like China because they are like that rude cousin you have that doesn't care what they say out loud....you know...they say the things you are thinking in your head but would NEVER say out loud. Well, yeah to me that is China....China has some crazy rules. and I may be crazy...but I kinda like them. Now before you get all Tobey Keith on me and tell me to get the hell outta USA let me explain. You know just like that rude cousin....You really are thinking the same thing but....would never say it out loud. China enforces laws that we would never adopt. For example..in some areas of China. you are only allowed 1 or 2 children. Not always a great idea... remember a couple of years ago they had that huge earthquake that killed a lot of kids in school? Well it was in that area of China...and well parents lost their 1 kid they could have ...and well I hope the government allowed them to have another... and I hope they didn't' have some sort of permanent birth control. Oh and this is random but in China they had some tainted baby formula a couple of years ago...It made thousands sick and actually killed like 8 kids around their country. So anyway..it was some ingredient that the company heads knew about but didn't make a big thing about it because it showed high levels of protein. However, the ingredient was used to laminate wood floors and was highly toxic. So this week do you know what they did to the heads of the company? They executed all 3 of them!! Yep...can you imagine us doing that? Executing the heads of major corporations who ruin people's lives and knew what they were doing was wrong but they did it anyway? Bernie Madoff...dead...heads of Citigroup...Bank of America...Lehman Brothers.... all executed! I think Wall Street executives would think twice about screwing us over. And while I am on the subject of screwing us over....how about this....we have to take a test to become a teacher....we have to get a license to become a master electrician..engineer....etc. I think you should have to take and pass a test to become a parent. Here are a few of my test questions:

1. Have you ever abandoned any previous children?
2. Will you try (very hard) to financially support your child?
3. Will you emotionally support your child?
4. Will you abstain from excessive, lethal drug use, and the "revolving door" boyfriend/ girlfriend way of living.
5. Are you an idiot? Do you believe everything you hear on Fox & CNN news?
6. Do you like the song "Soulja Boy" & anything by Jennifer Lopez?

OK so I could go on and on....but depending on how you answer some of these questions...I wish we had a test...to become a parent. Because people... just putting your kids name on the back of a tshirt or across your chest (tattoo) does not make you a parent.

OK so that's all....but I really like China and hope to visit....The US wants to build a "great wall" but not to keep out the Genghis Khan....just to keep out the Mexicans.!
