Have you ever noticed?

Have you ever noticed that the scariest place on earth is a bookstore? No not a post office....not a church....not even a prison!! Yeah I said it...a bookstore so what. Before you call me crazy (and I know some of you are wondering)...let me explain. Bookstores/libraries are pretty darn powerful. You see when I walk into a bookstore or library I become nervous. So many authors so many books. so many people trying to call me over with their words and views of the world. Who are they really? Are they self proclaimed self help gurus? I mean if you think about it...who in the hell is Oprah and what makes her qualified to tell us how to lead our lives? You see folks... Oprah is a woman who had a bad upbringing and went on to become a tv journalist....in between she battled cocaine and other serious personal demons. So, OK she is just like us. You and me....but do I stand in front of a TV everyday and tell you how to lead your lives....of course not...and why??? Because I am not qualified and because most of what I say is complete bullshit. Yeah I said it so what? Well...anyway back to the bookstores...if your mind is open..and I mean open to all the world has to offer...then surely you feel like me when you walk into a bookstore and library. Before I go further I must separate those that go to bookstores to entertain themselves with fiction....I really admire people that can read a story and interpret it in their own way and then walk away....By the way...how can you read a book and then watch the movie....and LIKE it? Your imagination is far better than any director's view of what will sell the most tickets at the box office. For example...look at this wolf kid? Yes he is a pretty boy...but the six pack abs is just a ploy to get young ladies and older women to croon over him. ( and it worked)
But bookstores with historical events, political views, religious views, and most importantly self help books. Those are frightening. What do you want me to think and feel? Why should I read your book?Are you telling the truth or are you selling me a six pack of bullshit? The power of words is far more dangerous than any gun or bomb! Well placed words mixed with a lack of self esteem can lead to some crazy guy brainwashing you to murder...HELLO Charlie Manson...Hitler!. So remember folks the next time you see me at Barnes and Noble and it looks like I am having an anxiety attack....I probably am!! Don't worry... just guide me to the overcoming anxiety books..
